Long-term agricultural management impacts arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi more than short-term experimental drought

چکیده

Agricultural management practices and extreme weather events associated with climate change can influence the diversity abundance of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) potential consequences for crop production. However, importance interactive effects long-term agricultural on AMF communities in soils is not yet fully explored. A short-term drought experiment rainout-shelters was performed winter wheat fields a trial organic (biodynamic) conventional practices. During four months growing period (March–June 2017), reduced ambient precipitation by 65% average. At two sampling dates, community composition were assessed using single-molecule real-time (SMRT) DNA sequencing. total 955 amplicon sequence variants (ASVs), belonging to twelve genera identified. The farming systems experimental did affect ASV levels. at genus level differed between systems, but no distinctive found response drought. three most abundant Acaulospora , Paraglomus Funneliformis correlated Our study demonstrates that are responsive resistant one summer event. • Organic displayed similar harboured distinct communities. No effect detected.

Analyzing Impacts of FACTS Devices in Dealing with Short-Term and Long-Term Wind Turbine Faults

More than one hundred countries are using wind energy due to their easy implementation, cheap energy, and high energy efficiency. Implementation of FACTS devices in Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS) has been dramatically improved due to cooperative and accurate performance of FACTS devices. However, dealing with wind turbine faults promptly is crucial. Short-term and long-term faults may ha...

Can Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi Reduce the Growth of Agricultural Weeds?

BACKGROUND Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are known for their beneficial effects on plants. However, there is increasing evidence that some ruderal plants, including several agricultural weeds, respond negatively to AMF colonization. Here, we investigated the effect of AMF on the growth of individual weed species and on weed-crop interactions. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS First, under c...

Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi: More Diverse than Meets the Eye, and the Ecological Tale of Why

H ecologists focused on interspecific competition as the critical factor structuring plant communities. Interactions between plants, however, are likely to be mediated by myriad interactions with soil organisms (Bever et al. 1997). The vast majority of plants, for example, take up nutrients through interactions with root symbionts. Of these root symbionts, arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi are ...

Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and their Value for Ecosystem Management

Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) are a group of obligate biotrophs, to the extent that they must develop a close symbiotic association with the roots of a living host plant in order to grow and complete their life cycle [1]. The term “mycorrhiza” literally derives from the Greek mykes and rhiza, meaning fungus and root, respectively. AMF can symbiotically interact with almost all the plants t...
